When to choose air, sea, or express shipping

Shipment size, urgency, destination requirements, and product value matter more than choosing the lowest headline rate.

Express for small or urgent shipments

Express delivery is usually suited to samples, urgent parcels, and smaller high-value shipments. It offers a straightforward parcel network, but volumetric weight and destination surcharges can materially affect the final rate.

Air freight for planned replenishment

Air freight can suit medium-size commercial shipments and regular stock replenishment when express is no longer economical but transit time still matters. Airport handling and destination arrangements must be included in the plan.

Sea freight for larger or heavier cargo

Sea freight is commonly considered for wholesale, heavy, or high-volume shipments. LCL and FCL options depend on cargo volume, frequency, destination, and the importer’s receiving setup.

  • Confirm packed volume and gross weight
  • Review the commercial invoice and packing list
  • Check destination import requirements
  • Allow time for carrier schedules and port handling
